资格要求

必须具备:

  • 拥有营养学、食品与营养学或餐饮服务管理专业的学士学位,且该学位课程需经认可的营养学项目认证。
  • 由华盛顿州卫生部认证的营养师。
  • 必须具备阅读、书写和使用英语的能力。
  • 机构要求的所有职位必备能力:

优先/期望:
  • 拥有获得认可的营养学或营养学专业学位的硕士学位,主修食品与营养或营养学。
  • 24 个月最近的全职注册营养师工作经验,或同等的教育与经验。

  • 拥有老年营养学专家认证。
  • 能够组织、优先处理多个项目并在时间紧迫的环境中按时完成任务。
  • 具备项目规划、实施和评估的经验。

Are you an experienced certified Washington state dietitian who would love a chance at becoming a state employee? This opportunity as a full-time Dietitian 2 is just for you! This position is based at the historic Washington Soldiers Home in scenic Orting, Washington!

Homes 24/7 facility differential: Updated as of July 1, 2025: This position is eligible for "Supplement Basic Shift Premium" for 24/7 Facilities. Employees who are assigned to a facility that provides direct care to residents, patients, and/or clients and whose duties are required to be performed on location will receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. This shift premium does not apply to overtime hours. The supplemental basic shift premium shall expire on June 29, 2027.

*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

Please note: The work schedule will be Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (4-10 hours shifts).

Hybrid/Telework: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework based on business needs, as approved by the appointing authority. The position will still require in-person presence.

Here at the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), we are passionate about our mission of “Serving Those Who Served.” As a national leader in our advocacy for nearly 500,000 veterans and their family members, we strive to connect them to earned benefits as well as innovative programs focused on their overall health and wellness. In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star.

As a Dietitian 2 for the Washington Soldiers Home, you will chart the progress of each resident according to MDS guidelines, and you will be a part of a multidisciplinary team of care plan development and educate and correct staff performance in meeting the nutritional guidelines in partnership with our Dietary Manager.

Duties

Some of what you'll do:

  • Serve as expert resource for guidance and problem solving for nutritional issues.
  • Perform assessments of residents per VA, Medicare, and Medicaid regulations to meet guidelines.
  • Interpret dietary prescriptions
  • Recommend, formulate, and implement comprehensive resident nutritional care plans.
  • Review and audit patient records.
  • Communicate with nursing staff, food service staff, and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Document progress notes in a timely manner.
  • Review and revise menus for modified diet needs.
  • Provide support in planning and implementation of menus.
  • Participate in quality assurance, data collection, and report preparation.
  • Assist with development of policies and procedures.
  • Train cooks, food service personnel, patients, or students in therapeutic meal preparation.
  • Assist with providing new employee orientation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A Bachelor's Degree with major in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, or Food Service Administration for an accredited Dietetics program.
  • Certified Dietitian with the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak in the English language.
  • Agency Required Competencies for all positions:
    • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
    • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
Preferred/Desired:
  • A master's degree involving major study in food and nutrition or dietetics from an accredited dietetics program.
  • 24 months recent full-time experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist OR, Equivalent Education/Experience.
  • Certified Diabetes educator.
  • Certified specialist in Gerontological Nutrition.
  • Able to organize, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment.
  • Experience with project planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Possess an understanding of professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Serve Safe certified.
  • Experience with Point Click Care and/or other Electronic Medical Record Program.

Special requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
  • Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
  • Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
  • Remain current on CPR.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and be capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper technique to stock shelves and access supplies. Employee must also be able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.
  • Must maintain a valid practical nursing license and provide from the State of Washington Department of Health.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance and be willing to work as needed.
  • Must successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service, and other required training.
  • Must become familiar and comply with all DVA policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
  • Must sign the confidentiality statement for all employees.
  • Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
  • Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
