The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS)'s Behavioral Health & Habilitation Administration (BHHA) is seeking an Occupational Therapist 3 to join the team at Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center. Located in Shoreline, Washington, this facility is surrounded by 88 acres of quiet natural beauty, yet easily accessible by car or public transportation. Please note that, as this opportunity is available in King County, employees assigned to a permanent duty station in King County will receive a 5% premium pay calculated from their base salary.
 
Some of what you will do:

The Occupational Therapist 3 will be primarily responsible for providing occupational therapy services for individuals with intellectual disabilities as a professional member of an interdisciplinary team. Occupational Therapist 3 responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing evaluations and therapy services to address sensory-motor control, range of motion, and activities of daily living (within a designated caseload)
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team and assist in developing Individual Habilitation Plans (IHP) for each client in your caseload
  • Develop and implement occupational therapy (OT) training programs based on OT assessments
  • Assess and/or order adaptive equipment/mechanical supports such as splints and eating aids


What we’re looking for:

Ability to:
  • Effectively communicate with management, peers, clients, and the public
  • Work in a team environment and support individuals with intellectual disabilities, assist with new skill acquisition, maintain skills, and focus on client choice and quality of life
  • Set measurable short- and long-term therapy treatment goals for individuals
  • Develop, observe, and monitor client dining programs
  • Plan and develop effective teaching/habilitation/individualized strategies
  • Communicate with nonverbal clients
  • Collect and record data as indicated
  • Prepare clear, concise reports, assessments, evaluations, programs, and recommendations
  • Prioritize work assignments to meet timelines and/or changing priorities
  • Lead or co-lead therapeutic activity groups
  • Operate equipment and tools used in therapy programs


Who should apply?

Those with:
  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and successful completion of American Occupational Therapy Association certification 

And

  • Three years of professional therapy experience.

OR

  • Equivalent education and experience

Legal Requirements:
  • Licensed by the state of Washington as an Occupational Therapist or has a valid probational certificate issued by the State of Washington to practice occupational therapy
