The position is assigned to Olympia, however, the employer may consider moving the position to another WSP office location within the state depending on residency of the selected candidate. 
Telework is offered in accordance with agency procedures and business needs.



About the Position:

This position is responsible for representing the agency during fire mobilization incidents, serving as a resource to local fire officials, incident commanders, and incident management teams. This position is also responsible for working with the Washington State Fire Defense Committee to review, revise, and recommend changes to the Washington State Fire Service Mobilization Plan. This position serves as the primary subject matter expert on the Mobilization Plan and how it interfaces with the statewide Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP). 

This position is also responsible for the timely and accurate processing of Fire Mobilization payments to individuals, agencies, and vendors. 

This position also supports the firefighter certification program by assisting with the day-to day activities within the program, including test grading, data entry concerning testing data, and other duties to ensure timely customer service.

This position makes recommendations for necessary program improvements.

This position represents the Fire Protection Bureau to external stakeholders and other groups as assigned.

This position reports to a Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal. This position also takes programmatic direction from other Chief Deputy State Fire Marshals within the Fire Prevention Division.


About the Division:
The Fire Prevention Division is active in providing a variety of Fire Protection services including all risk mobilizationfire inspections on licensed care facilities ,plan review of schools, data collection, analysis, hazardous materials training, and the licensing and certification of the fire sprinklerfireworks, and cigarette industries to both public and private sectors. These sections provide planning, training, and technical assistance for firefighters and emergency responders who are mobilized for statewide emergencies such as hazardous materials, earthquakes, nuclear facilities, as well as other high-risk situations.

Duties

Our new teammate will be able to:

  • Represent the agency and bureau at fire resource mobilization events. 
  • Serve as a resource to local fire officials, incident commanders, incident management teams and other stakeholders during fire mobilization events. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the Fire Service Resource Mobilization Plan and how it interfaces with the statewide Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP).
  • Participate in updating Fire Service Resource Mobilization Plan.
  • Perform timely and accurate processing of reimbursements/payments to firefighters, fire agencies, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide training to local fire agencies, county associations, and other stakeholder groups on the Mobilization Plan and fiscal procedures related to the business functions of the program.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license due to in-state travel required to complete job duties.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a strong knowledge and command of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Washington State Fire Service Resources Mobilization Plan.
  • Familiarization with the organization and function of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Conditions of Employment:
  • Employee must maintain a valid driver license.
  • Employee must successfully pass and obtain the ICC Fire Inspector 1 certification within 6 months of employment. 
  • Employee must successfully pass and obtain the ISFAC or Pro Board Fire Instructor 1 certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Employee must obtain Finance Section Unit Leader training when available.
