Homeland Security Terminates Somalia’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Designation

Effective Date: March 17, 2026
WASHINGTON – Today, United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced the termination of Somalia’s designation for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The decision will become effective on March 17, 2026.
“Temporary means temporary,” said Secretary Noem. “Given current country conditions in Somalia, it is appropriate to terminate TPS designation.”
